Things I learned in Mexico

I was in Mexico City a few weeks ago (early June 2016) for several days and learned quite a bit. I thought I should share:

  • They use speed bumps in place of stop signs.
  • Beer costs $1, rum and coke $2.
  • Mushroom soup > chicken soup
  • Cheese quesadillas look like empanadas but are amazing.
  • The Japanese ruined peanuts.
  • They make their own lanes when driving.
  • Mezcal is gross.
  • McDonald's serves onion rings.
  • There are at least ten duty free shops in the airport. (Literally every 50 yards.)

Enjoy!

Ice cream cake

So, today was my boss's birthday. It's been a running thing the last year that we get an ice cream cake from BJs (they're frickin fantastic) and share it amongst the team. Something dawned on me today, though. Last year, I took my birthday off (it was a Friday). Never had any cake for my birthday. (I generally take at least a half day off from work for my birthday, fyi.) But then I realized, if I'm the one with the BJs membership, and I'm the one getting the cakes, who's getting a cake for my birthday?

Who?

Netflix!

There's been a lot of talk recently about the 'secret codes' that Netflix has at the end of the URLs. The short version is that if you change the number at the end of the URL, you'll get a different category. Well, someone went ahead and created a matrix with links:

You're welcome (and thanks to the guy that put the site together [and the people who's data he used]).
